Remembering Astroworld
Never visited Astroworld, but I can only imagine the anguish the former employees and guests are feeling. Could you all imagine sitting around watching one of the Great America parks being dismantled?
Living in Denver, I had the unfortunate experience of watching the original Elitch Gardens fall. It was heartbreaking. Elitch's was a park that had been around for decades and had a lot of charm. The new park, while "nice" certainly doesn't have the same ambiance as the original. Sorry to see this happening to the folks down in Houston ...

It seems sad that, like the Sky Whirl cabins, the Astrowheel cabins were left to rot after the ride was gone.

I should have clarified. I meant this one cabin that was preserved and put near its old location. It was undoubtedly removed during dismanteling.

I have some information about the Astrowheel cabins. Those seen in photos with several of them sitting around in the grass are located on the property of a (former?) Astroworld employee. The photos are seen in this thread:

The cabin that was in the photo inside the park was sitting next to what was originally the Astrowheel entrance and queue house. Evidently, the park had placed it there as a bit of history to share with "modern-day" visitors.
I last visited Astroworld in 1998 for its 30th Anniversary special event. At that time, I learned that several of the old Astrowheel cabins were located next to the employee parking lot. They served as seating for an employee drop-off / pickup area. I took some photos of them at that location. At the time, they had no color. All the paint had faded. Whenever I find those photos, I'll scan one or two and post them (not likely any time soon).

Ride sign from Texas Cyclone
Everyone,
At ACE's No Coaster Con event yesterday, Six Flags Great America was able to get a hold of a sign from the Texas Cyclone, which will be donated to the ACE muesume.
Below is a picture of the sign

There are a lot of items listed on Ebay for Astroworld right now. Take a look. Here is an auction for pictures of Astrowheel.

They look to be from the late 1960s or early 1970s.
