Trivia Game

Post by Bush985 »

Hey Everyone...

I am working on putting a SC Park Trivia game together for some of my associates at the park as an event. It's going to be a Jeopardy style game and I was wondering if anyone could contribute some good trivia besides the basics such as "The worlds tallest carousel" or "Centrifuge" was orgionally Filddelers Fling... Etc.

Anything would be appreciated, and would help preserve some of the parks history with some of the associates @ PGA.

Thanks in Advance,

I could probably think of a lot, but they don't always come to me easily if I sit down and try to think some up. I'll try to come up some and will post them when I do. You want them in Jeopardy style: answer given and they have to come up with the question?

Sorry, I said that wrong.
The game itself will be trivia... But we will have some Jep questions in which we show a picture, or play music, and the associate has to identify.

As for questions, the more the better, and hell even if you have some simple ones THROW EM IN!

Anything would be appreciated, The event is next Sunday.

Thanks in Advance,

I'll leave Shockwavegirl's questions as an exercise for the readers. :-)

Now, if these questions are for current PGA associates, we need questions that they should have some likelihood to be able to answer. Since most of them probably were born after Marriott had already departed, I wouldn't expect them to have much knowledge about the early years -- unless they already hang out on this and some other sites.

I still haven't come up with hardly anything, but since the deadline is near, let me see. Some of these may be rejects...

1. Which ride, still at the park, used to be converted into a disco in the evenings? Bonus: What was the name of the disco?
Answer: Rue Le Dodge. Bonus answer: Rue Le Disco.

2. What ride was originally located where Invertigo now stands?
Answer: Triple Wheel (Sky Whirl).

3. What was the original name of the roller coaster that was converted into The Demon?
Answer: Turn of the Century.

4. A roller coaster once stood in the area where the Xtreme Skyflyer is located. What was its name?
Answer: Whizzer or Willard's Whizzer.

5. Besides Loggers Run, the park used to have another flume ride. What was its name?
Answer: Yankee Clipper or Clipper.

6. What blue cartoon characters are no longer found in the park?
Answer: Smurfs.

7. A looping roller coaster was located behind the Action FX Theater, what was one of its two names?
Answer: The Tidal Wave or Greased Lightnin'.

8. The "world's first flying coaster" made its debut at PGA and has already made its departure. What was its name? Bonus: Where is it now and what is its new name?
Answer: Stealth. Bonus: Paramount's Carowinds, Borg Assimilator

9. What was the name of the drop ride that used to be located where Thunder Raceway is today?
Answer: The Edge.

10. What was the name of the pizza restaurant that used to be located near the entrance of the Grizzly?
Answer: Pizzaluigi.

11. What were the park's original themed sections?
Answer: Carousel Plaza, Orleans Place, Yankee Harbor, Yukon Territory, County Fair, Hometown Square.

12. What was the original use for the building that is now the entrance to Psycho Mouse?
Answer: Fairgrounds Junction train station.

13. What was the original name of the Food Festival food court?
Answer: Farmers Market.

14. What was the original name of the Showtime Theater?
Answer: Theatre Royale.

15. A ride similar to the Flying Eagles was a favorite at San José's Frontier Village Amusement Park. What was the name of the ride at Frontier Village?
Answer: Spirit of Kitty Hawk

16. Which park was this park's original sister park?
Answer: The park now known as Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois.

17. What was the park's original name?
Answer: Marriott's GREAT AMERICA.

18. In which year did the park open?
Answer: 1976.

19. What was the name of the company that ran the park before Paramount took over?
Answer: KECO (Kings Entertainment Company)

20. Which cartoon characters were originally featured in the park?
Answer: Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny as the official park "spokesrabbit".

That's about all that I can come up with for now.

Thats awesome Steven!
Thanks a ton. I'm going to be using some pictures I shot yesterday also of park signs, rides, etc, and having the associates identify them as part of the game also.

Keep em rolling, it will be much appreciated!
