The Astroworld version was a flywheel launch version, while the two Great America versions featured the weight-drop launch. There were probably variations in the rides besides the propulsion method, so using the identical twin for parts made more sense than using a "close but not quite the same" version.

Small Update, most of Greased Lightnin' was still at Marine World as of May 26th (not sure if the loop is there from these SRC pictures).

Are they going to build a new Greased Lightening with the last of the parts?

I would love to see that happen, but I highly highly doubt it, I'm guessing soon enough the rest of the parts are either going to be sent to repair another one, and or be scrapped (maybe even with Zonga if it doesn't have any luck...). They probably would have repaired Greezed Lightnin's old parts instead of taking parts from Greased Lightnin' if they planned to relocate it...

Somebody mentioned the idea of the two Greezed Lightnin' coasters racing each other. I know it will never happen, but the more I thought about it, the more interesting the idea became! It would also fit the racing theme of Greezed Lightnin' perfectly. Could you imagine both trains side by side, launching out of the stations, through the loop and up the dead end tracks together? Not to mention the fact that both are former Marriott's Tidal Waves, once seperated by thousands of miles, now together side by side. I'm getting chills thinking about it, but alas, it will never happen...
