The Gulf Coaster is perhaps the least remembered coaster at the Marriott’s GREAT AMERICA parks. Manufactured by Bradley and Kaye, it was a standard Little Dipper model. The Gurnee Gulf Coaster was already removed for the 1977 season. The new-for-1977 Southern Cross skyride’s station occupied the Gulf Coaster‘s site. The Santa Clara Gulf Coaster operated through the 1980 season. Today at both parks, river rapids rides are found where the mighty little Gulf Coaster once stood.
